Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health and Safety Response Plan

Updated May 1, 2020:  Although the stay at home order has been lifted, WHCC has decided to keep office operations as is through Phase 1 of Houston's re-opening.  As of now, Phase 2 is set to begin May 18th and at that time clinicians may see some clients on a limited basis in office on a case by case basis.  We will continue to monitor public health information and recommendations and make further decisions about expanding in office capacity by June 1, 2020.

Our waiting room will remained closed until further notice and clients will be asked to wait in their vehicle for the therapist to come get them.  Our office is located in Fort Bend County so masks are not required, but are optional.  By entering the offices you are self-certifying that you have not had a fever or symptoms of respiratory illness (cough, shortness of breath) in the last 14 days and that you have not been around any person with such symptoms.  You also self-certify that you have not traveled in the last 14 days.

West Houston Counseling Center places the safety of our clients and our staff as the highest priority. In regards to the coronavirus, the following policies guide our safety practices:

  • Our staff follows the current best practice recommendations to avoid the spread of infectious disease and viruses, and we encourage our clients to do the same. These hygiene practices include:
  • Hand Sanitizer is available throughout the center for both staff and clients.
  • We clean and disinfect “high-touch” objects and surfaces including, desktops, doorknobs, restroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets and community-use items on a regular basis.
  • Our toys in the playrooms are sanitized between EACH session and are limited at this time to only easily cleaned and sanitized objects.
  • Children will be asked to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after play therapy sessions.
  • Each therapy room is sanitized between clients.
  • Payments will remain "contact-less" with utilizing the credit card information on file.
  • Staff members will not congregate in public spaces and the waiting room will remain closed.
  • Staff members will wear a mask at any time they are within 6 feet of clients or other staff members.
  • Staff members are asked to stay at home if they have a fever, persistent cough, or vomiting. We encourage clients to avoid close contact with anyone who has cold or flu-like symptoms.
  • All therapists will be available via telehealth platforms to conduct therapy sessions remotely.

The health and safety of our clients, staff, and families are of the utmost importance. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep our community informed.
