Everything is just so hard.” “My child is out of control.” “I’m so tired of feeling this way.” These types of statements often reflect the type of feelings Kelly’s clients have. Whether parenting a difficult child, struggling with addictions, or suffering from mood or thought disorders, Kelly has a compassionate healing approach tailored to identify problems and solutions

Kelly's Area of Counseling:

Child Therapy:

Kelly provides child therapy through various techniques including: Play therapy, theraplay techniques, sand tray, assessments, educational advocacy and school consultations, parent consultations, behavioral plans, trauma and sexual abuse counseling.  Kelly is currently seeking her Registred Play Therapist Credential (RPT) which provides additional training and certification in child therapy.

Adolescent / Teen Counseling:

Kelly specializes in teen counseling.  She uses a variety of techniques in her adolescent therapy work including:  Art therapy, talk therapy, assessments, addiction counseling, trauma counseling, grief counseling, family therapy, teen group therapy, trauma and sexual abuse counseling.  Kelly specializes in counseling teens with wide variety of issues including behavioral problems, mood disorders, school issues, self harming, and developmental delays.  Learn more about teen counseling or contact Kelly for more information..

Adult Counseling

Kelly also sees some adults clients.  She specializes in parenting and family counseling, trauma and sexual abuse counseling when working with adults.  Kelly works with all parents who have children in child therapy or adolescent counseling to create a collaborative plan for therapy both in and out of session.  In addition, Kelly provides tips, skills, and support for parents working with difficult children or teens as they progress in therapy.

Kelly provides services to clients of all ages both individually and in groups such as the Teen Intervention Program (TIP).  She provides therapy in a supportive and caring environment focused on helping client’s to reach their goals and overcome life obstacles.

Kelly’s TIP group offers an option for treating teens that may need more intensive care than weekly sessions alone may offer, yet do not need intensive outpatient or inpatient treatments.  Examples include teens stepping down from intensive outpatient programs, recently discharged teens, teens needing additional sessions, or teens needing additional support as an adjunct to individual treatment.  Additionally, teens often respond to a group adolescent counseling format better than individual counseling making this a viable stand alone treatment.  This may be especially true for issues such as substance abuse, anger-management, and grief addressed weekly in the program.

Kelly is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.  Her experience includes one year as a Graduate Practicum Counselor specializing in adolescent counseling and child counseling, 18 months as an LPC-Intern specializing in adolescent counseling and play therapy, several years as a peer counselor counseling teens, and two years of volunteer crisis counseling troubled teens at the Pregnancy Help Center in Katy, TX.

Kelly and her husband Kerric were married in 2000 and have three children. She enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Kelly has a heart of service leading to involvement in various local community, church, and children’s outreach programs including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
