Teen DBT SKILLS GROUP
Every Monday at 6pm
Tween – Teen (Ages 13 – 17 Years) suffering from intense emotions, self-harming / suicidal thoughts, behavioral issues or interpersonal problems
This group will work on the following DBT (Dialectic Behavior Therapy) Skills:
I. Walking The Middle Path
Week 1: Thinking & acting dialectically
Week 2: Validating self and others
II. Core Mindfulness
Week 3: Understand the states of mind and the core “What” skills
Week 4: Learn core “how” skills for using a wise mind
III. Distress Tolerance
Week 5 & 6: Skills to distract yourself, self-soothe, and other distress tolerance skills
IV. Emotion Regulation
Weeks 7, 8 & 9: Learn skills to change emotions, build up daily positive experiences, and other emotion regulation skills
V. Interpersonal Effectiveness
Weeks 10-12: Skills to keep a good relationship, keep your self-respect, and other interpersonal effectiveness skills
This group is designed for teenagers who need to learn additional coping skills to regulate intense emotions. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is an effective, evidence-based approach to teach necessary skills for a variety of mental health issues. We recommend the teen DBT skills group either online or in-person to any teenager currently in crisis or seeking to obtain benefits from therapy at a more rapid pace. We also offer DBT skills groups for parents who wish to learn the same skills as their teenager or to help themselves.
For those who cannot make the in-person group, we offer DBT Skills training online for a lower cost.
