Play Therapy
Welcome to our Play Therapy Program!
At WHCC, we believe in the power of play as a therapeutic tool for children and families facing a variety of challenges. Our play therapy program offers a range of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR therapy, Theraplay, and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), to help children and families heal, grow, and thrive.
EMDR Play Therapy:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) PT is a specialized form of play therapy that incorporates elements of EMDR therapy to help children process and resolve traumatic experiences, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. Through playful activities and techniques, children are able to access and process difficult emotions in a safe and supportive environment, leading to healing and emotional regulation.
Theraplay:
Theraplay is a child-centered, attachment-based approach to therapy that focuses on strengthening the parent-child relationship and promoting secure attachment. Through structured play activities and interactive games, Theraplay helps children develop trust, empathy, and social skills, while also providing parents with tools and strategies to support their child’s emotional and behavioral development.
Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT):
CPRT is a structured and evidence-based approach to therapy that focuses on improving the parent-child relationship and enhancing communication, trust, and emotional connection. Through guided play sessions and parent coaching, CPRT helps parents and children strengthen their bond, resolve conflicts, and build resilience in the face of challenges such as grief, divorce, and behavioral issues.
