Approach

With 18 years of clinical experience, Stephanie Legendre brings a compassionate, results-driven approach to therapy that bridges deep emotional healing with practical strategies for change.

Stephanie began her career in inpatient mental health settings, where she worked with individuals experiencing severe mental illness. There, she recognized a common thread among patients—many had histories of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). This insight inspired her to shift her focus to early intervention, leading her to become the Clinical Director of a Child Advocacy Center, where she worked with children facing trauma, abuse, and neglect. Her expertise also expanded to include maternal mental health, including postpartum depression and early bonding challenges.

After relocating to Houston, Stephanie transitioned into private practice, where she continues to support children, adults, and families using an integrative, attachment-based approach. Her clinical work is grounded in the principles of nervous system regulation, trauma resolution, and healing relational wounds.

Work with Children and Families

Stephanie became a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) in 2011 and has since dedicated her practice to helping children navigate challenges related to:

  • Divorce and family transitions

  • Attachment disruptions and trauma

  • Emotional regulation and anxiety

  • Neurodivergence

  •  Behavior issues, Strong-Willed Children

She also works directly with parents, offering discipline coaching and behavioral strategies that are uniquely tailored to each child’s temperament, development, and relational needs.

Stephanie is also trained in co-parenting coaching, reunification therapy, and supporting families who are  separated or facing high-conflict custody and communication challenges. Her focus is always on restoring stability, minimizing triangulation, and protecting the child’s emotional safety.

Work with Adults

Stephanie’s work with adults is directive, collaborative, and insight-focused. Her approach resonates best with individuals who are open to growth and ready to make meaningful changes. Rather than engaging in years of talk therapy, she works efficiently to uncover core wounds, belief systems, and relational dynamics that block progress.

Her sessions blend deep psychodynamic insight with a coaching-style energy, helping clients move from stuck patterns to aligned action. She incorporates LENS Neurofeedback into many of her sessions to support nervous system regulation, enhance clarity, and reduce emotional reactivity.

Stephanie also integrates parts work, attachment theory, EMDR principles, and somatic awareness to help adults explore the inner child, release old roles, and embody new ways of relating to themselves and others.
